Sound Card Signal Generator Toggle

Macro: Gen

This toolbar button activates sound card output operations. You may also use ALT+G.

In order for the Generator to be successfully toggled on, either Left or Right (or both) outputs must be selected in the Generator Control Dialog. Otherwise, that dialog will open and 'Select Left and/or Right Generator channel' will appear on the message line.

When Generator and Input are active at the same time, it is referred to as "full-duplex" operation. Most modern sound cards are capable of this. If yours is not, then toggling Generator on will force Input off and disable it, and vice-versa.

Note that the Multi-Channel Outputs dialog button is disabled unless both Left and Right outputs are selected. Conversely, when the Multi-Channel Outputs On button is active in that dialog, even if the Generator is off so there is no actual output, the Left and Right output buttons in the main Generator dialog are disabled.

Macro Notes:

Gen=1 turns the Generator on, Gen=0 turns it off, and Gen=x toggles between the two states. These commands are always immediate.

If the On/Off Fade control in the Attenuator Options dialog is enabled for manual Generator toggles, Gen#F=1 toggles on with the specified fade-up, Gen#F=0 toggles off after a delay and fade-down, and Gen#F=x toggles between states using the fades.
