Init Table

This button has completely different effects depending upon whether Meter or Match mode is active. Make sure you understand the basic approach as discussed in the Meter / Match mode control topic.

In Meter mode, Init Table means that any value you enter in the Volts control is copied to all softer volume steps, and their dB / Step values are set to 0 dB (no change from the prior step). This means that when working from loudest to softest on a typical sound card having many dummy "no change" steps, you simply scroll Left Step down until the meter shows a change, then enter the new Volts value. You don't need to enter anything for all the dummy steps, since they have been automatically set to the last-entered value.

In Match mode, Init Table simply fills the calibration table with the same step size for all steps. Use the 'dB / Step' control to specify that step size. The value you enter will be the starting point for adjustments on each step. The default is 0 dB, since most sound cards have many dummy "no change" steps. Then in Edit mode you will adjust the value of each functional step to get a match.
