Linear Waveform Average

Linear waveform averaging is straightforward synchronous waveform averaging, also called coherent averaging. The averager accumulates frames linearly until the requested total is reached, then it stops and Pause mode is entered. Signal output is unaffected; if a DDisk recording is in progress it is also unaffected.

A running Linear average will show the total number of frames accumulated in the Total Frames Counter (beneath the Averager button). The total will stop incrementing when the average is done or when it is paused. It will be cleared when the average is abandoned, either by toggling the Averager off if it has not yet finished, or by toggling the Pause state off if it is done.

When a Linear average is done and still in the automatic Pause state, you can hit Avg Add or Avg Sub to extend it by the requested frames.

Linear averaging is normally used to collect data where you need to specify a discrete number of frames for comparison with other data.
