Generator Frequency Places

Controls: Gen Dlg >> Stream >> Tone Freq >> Step Mode >> Freq Places
Macro: FreqPlcs

This sets the number of decimal places that will be shown for all Generator frequency controls, such as Tone Freq, AM, FM, or PWM Modulation Frequency, and Sweep Start and End Frequencies.

Generator frequencies have a resolution of 0.000089407 Hz at a sample rate of 48000 Hz, or about 89 parts per million. Entered values will always be quantized to the nearest 89 ppm step, so the displayed value may not match what you enter. Setting the Places control to show more decimal places does not allow setting frequencies to finer resolutions, only knowing the actual frequency to higher precision.

Tip: If you want to scroll frequency values with the finest possible steps, go to the top of this Step Mode dialog and make sure Step Direct (default) or Step Hertz is selected. Enter a value of 0 in the control under the selected button. The value will show as 0.00001 Hz, which is interpreted internally to scroll at the finest resolution (89 ppm).
