Audible Error Alert

Controls: Edit Menu >> Run Preferences >> Audible Error
Macro: AudErr

When this box is checked, the MIDI Synthesizer is used to provide an audible alert whenever a message box displays an error or status message. Since the Synth volume is separate from the Wave volume used by the Generator, this feature may allow an independent signal for certain situations.

If you normally use a voice synthesizer to read the Windows screen, you may need to turn it off to avoid interference with Generator output during critical experiments. But if an error condition arises that calls for response, the MIDI Synth alert can notify you that you need to turn it back on to read the message.

Even if you don't use a voice synthesizer, this option may help when you can not constantly watch the screen but still need to be alerted to the presence of a condition that needs attention.

The audible alert toggles the MIDI Synth on for a duration specified by the On Time control that is otherwise used for Synth Burst operation. (Synth Burst does not need to be active, and Off Time is ignored.) The alert will use the specified MIDI Voice and MIDI Note, as well as current Synth Volume settings.
