Pitch Freq Axis (Notes/Freq/MIDI)

Controls: Sgram/PT Dialog >> Notes/Freq/MIDI
Macro: PitchYaxis

This button changes from Notes to Freq to MIDI on successive presses, controlling the vertical axis of the Spectrogram Pitch Track display.

Notes mode shows letter and octave designations. The A above Middle C would be shown as A4.

Freq shows frequency, such as 440.0 for the above note. Frequencies are more convenient than notes when you are trying to adjust the eXpand Max and Min frequency range or the Track Max and Min Frequencies to best fit the range of your input signal.

MIDI shows the equivalent MIDI note number, which would be 69 for the above note. MIDI supports note numbers from 0 (C-1 = 8.17575 Hz) to 127 (G9 = 12543.852 Hz). The display will show values above 127 for higher frequencies, even though these can not be directly converted to MIDI by the Pitch-to-MIDI converter. Instead, you must use the +/-Octave control to shift them into range.

MIDI note numbers are especially useful when you are adjusting MIDI Voice Range Min and Max limits.

Macro Notes:

PitchYaxis=0 sets Notes mode to show letters and octave numbers.

PitchYaxis=1 sets Freq mode.

PitchYaxis=2 sets MIDI note number mode.
