Tempo Mode (Voice/Percussion)

Controls: Sgram/PT Dialog >> Pitch-to-MIDI >> Setup

The Tempo Mode button in the Voice Setup dialog defaults to Voice. When it is selected, it changes to Percussion. (Caution: Don't confuse this with separate Tempo Voice and Percussion buttons in the main Pitch-to-MIDI dialog.)

Percussion mode allows the voice to provide beat-controlled rhythm backup, independent of live incoming notes or their timing. You would set the main Pitch-to-MIDI Tempo Percussion button on and Tempo Voice off, so that live notes are played immediately on voices that have this button in Voice mode, while Percussion-mode voices (along with the normal Percussion instruments) sound on the beats.

You can make the Percussion-mode backup as elaborate as desired, using Velocity, Note, and Chord Patterns to create a complete backup rhythm section, or even a "karaoke" setup. (See the Pitch-to-MIDI Tempo Voice / Percussion topic for a discussion.)

In Percussion mode the note pitch is controlled by the Pattern Key setting, plus any Note Pattern entry. Incoming notes are ignored, along with Delay, Range Fit, Min/Max, Scale, +/-Note, and Note PreScale settings. (These controls are disabled.)

However, Bend does have an effect. If the raw live note is slightly sharp or flat, then Pattern Key plus the Note Pattern note will be sharp or flat by the same relative amount.

All other non-pitch controls operate normally, including Level, Velocity Track, Sustain, Hold Beats, Lag, Arpeggio, and Pan.

Note: There is no Changes script command for this control.
