Joshua.DQM MIDI Setup

When this setup is loaded, right-clicking on the Pitch-to-MIDI title bar or any non-control portion of the dialog will open Help at this topic.

Joshua.DQM is a DaqMusiq setup of the song "Joshua Fought The Battle Of Jericho". Voice 1 holds the melody, and Voice 2 holds the accompaniment.

The Percussion voice is initially off, but is toggled by the Changes script. It uses Side Stick (37) with a Velocity Pattern of '88006600' and Acoustic Snare (38) with '00880066', giving alternating pairs of strong beats of each, then pairs of softer beats of each.

The complete Changes script (with comments added) is:

{4                  ;Loop 4 times
W=8 UA=?(0,118)     ;Wait 8 beats, random User A
I1=UA oLi=UA ;User A to melody inst, show name
W=8 UB=?(0,118)     ;Wait 8 beats, random User B
I2=UB oRi=UB ;User B to chord inst, show name
}                   ;Loop (64 beats total)
XP=x                ;Toggle Percussion

The script waits 8 beats, then changes the Voice 1 melody instrument to a random selection. Then it waits another 8 beats and does the same for the Voice 2 chord instrument. It repeats this sequence 4 time (64 beats total), then toggles the current Percussion state, which is maintained for the next 64 beats.

When the Voice 1 melody instrument changes, the name of the instrument is shown on the left Output Display. When the Voice 2 chord instrument changes, it is shown on the right display. This is done via User Variables A and B. These are first set with random values which are then used to set the instrument, then display its name.
